I find joy in creating an endlessly expanding world of color through combinations and the ways pigments intermingle. I approach my practice while maintaining a distance from established meanings and recognizable forms. My creative process pushes forward to the very brink of completion—almost like a game of chicken. Moving back and forth between intuition and reflection, I seek to maintain a sense of tension while still allowing the work to remain open. To sustain this tension, I primarily use acrylic paint, whose quick-drying nature prevents time from being stretched or diluted. From a small town in Japan, I hope my work can be seen and enjoyed by people around the world. If, when encountering my paintings, viewers feel as though they are looking at landscapes from millions of light-years away—scenes from an ancient past or a distant future—I would consider that a fulfillment of my intention.
